Ruy Ohtake, one of the Masters of Brazilian Architecture and Urbanism, passed away in São Paulo

Uma notícia muito triste para todos os arquitetos e urbanistas brasileiros e do exterior que o reconheciam como um de seus mais importantes e queridos colegas: faleceu em São Paulo, no dia 28 de novembro o muito admirado e renomado Ruy Ohtake, com idade de 83 anos. Autor de obras referenciais como a Embaixada Brasileira em Tóquio, a sede do Instituto Tomie Ohtake, o Hotel Unique e grandes obras urbanas como o Parque Ecológico do Tietê e o Expresso Tiradentes (BRT), todas em São Paulo, Ruy Ohtake deixou muitos admiradores e amigos. Um destes sou eu e, coincidentemente, fui entrevistado pelo Jornal da USP sobre seu legado, pela jornalista Leila Kiyomura. Descanse em paz, grande colega e amigo Ruy Ohtake.
Very sad news for all Brazilian and foreign architects and urbanists who recognized him as one of their most important and dear colleagues: on November 27, Ruy Ohtake passed away in São Paulo, at the age of 83 years. Author of referential works such as the Brazilian Embassy in Tokyo, the headquarters of the Tomie Ohtake Institute, the Unique Hotel, and great urban works such as the Tietê Ecological Park and the Tiradentes Express (BRT), all in São Paulo, Ruy Ohtake has left many admirers and friends. One of these is me, and, coincidentally, I was interviewed by the USP Journal on his legacy, by the journalist Leila Kiyomura. Ruy Ohtake sadly joins his other two great colleagues, Paulo Mendes da Rocha and Jaime Lerner, in a devastating year for all those who appreciate the magnificent works by the Brazilian Masters, in contemporary Architecture and Urbanism. Rest in peace, great colleague and friend Ruy Ohtake.
