The 'Atelier O'Reilly' wins another Saint Gobain Award, in 2020
O 'Atelier O'Reilly', liderado pela arquiteta e urbanista brasileira Patrícia O'Reilly, recebeu novamente o Prêmio Saint-Gobain, na Categoria Profissional Residencial em São Paulo, Brasil, em sua edição de 2020. Três projetos habitacionais receberam a premiação e será divulgada em evento próximo.
O projeto, que visa servir de conscientizador da necessidade de abraçar a sustentabilidade em toda a cadeia de valor, se destaca pelas seguintes características, com soluções de tecnologia consideradas não como fim mas como meio:
- partindo do clima local, uso de estratégias passivas para conforto lumínico, qualidade acústica e térmica;
- uso de soluções para 'Zero Toxicidade' na escolha de materiais de alta performance e instalações que minimizam o impacto sobre a saúde dos habitantes e o bioma local;
- adoção de paisagismo nativo tem como meta restaurar a biodiversidade do lugar;
- introdução de obras de arte do Artista Plástico Alexandre Mavignier que observa e interpreta os movimentos da natureza.
O'Reilly entende que: "A palavra amor tange este projeto como um discurso prático que se move por diversas frentes desta construção, alicerçando-se como uma linguagem do âmbito social. O amor tornou-se então, um elo de conexão que motivou mudanças mais profundas na busca do saber, promovendo conscientemente a sensação de pertencimento pelo planeta em que vivemos". A Consultora de Arquitetura e Urbanismo Sustentáveis da rede e-DAU desenvolveu um design exclusivo para o elemento escultural da fachada e convidou o Artista Plástico Alexandre Mavignier para produzir a obra de arte. Mavignier inspirado pelas formigas cortadeiras avistadas no terreno, , incluiu quadros feitos sob medida nas paredes e uma piscina pintada com tinta mineral, que chamou de “deep art”. Ou seja: "Um mergulho profundo na arte deste tempo através do edifício." A série 'cortadeiras' segue para a Bienal de Veneza.

The 'Atelier O'Reilly', headed by the Brazilian architect and urbanist, Patrícia O'Reilly, received again the Saint-Gobain Award, in the Professional Residential Category in São Paulo, Brazil, in its 2020 edition.Three housing projects received the award and will be announced in an upcoming event, soon.
The project, which aims at raising the awareness of the need to embrace sustainability during all the value chain, stands out due to the following characteristics, with technological solutions considered not as an end in themselves but as a means:
- given the local climate, use of passive strategies for lighting comfort, acoustic and thermal quality;
- use of solutions with 'Zero Toxicity' in the choice of high-performance materials and services which may minimize the impact on user health and local biome;
- adoption of native species in the landscape design with the objective of restoring the local biodiversity;
- introduction of art works by the artist Alexander Mavignier which observe and interpret the movements in nature.
O'Reilly understands that: "The word 'love' involves this project as a practical discourse which moves around different fronts of this building, founded on a language of social context. Love therefore became a connective link which motivated deeper changes in the search for knowledge, promoting consciously the sensation of pertaining to the planet we live in."
The consultant in Sustainable Architecture and Urbanism of the e-DAU network developed an exclusive design for the sculptural element of the façade and invited the artist Alexander Mavignier to produce the art work. Inspired by the cutter ants spotted on the site, he included paintings made specially for the walls and a swimming pool, treated with mineral paint, which he called "deep art". That is: "A deep dive into contemporary art through the building". The 'cutter ants' series is heading towards the Venice Biennial.
