e-DAU promotes its first open online meeting with its international team: Border Urbanism

No dia 22 de junho de 2022, a rede e-DAU realizou sua primeira reunião internacional online, atendida por membros da equipe em cinco continentes e coordenada pelo Prof. Quazi Ahman Zaman da Robert Gordon University em Aberdeen, Escócia. O tema discutido em inglês por participantes da África do Sul, Austrália, Bangladesh, Escócia, Itália, Japão, Portugal, Noruega, além do Brasil, focou o tema "Urbanismo de Fronteira", mediante uma brilhante apresentação do Dr. Zaman que foi seguida por uma ampla discussão voltada à possibilidade de ser realizado um seminário centrado em São Paulo, como parte da pesquisa dele neste campo. O presidente do Conselho da e-DAU, Bruno Roberto Padovano, sugeriu a organização e promoção de um grande trabalho internacional sobre o Estreito de Bering, entre Alaska e Sibéria, como parte dos esforços de paz para impedir o alastramento da guerra entre Rússia e Ucrânia, com a realização de uma ponte intercontinental multiuso, com a criação de uma urbanização capaz de absorver até 8 milhões de habitantes, o que a tornaria a primeira megacidade planejada (possivelmente flutuante) no mundo e incluiria soluções do estada da arte em pontes (suspensão, stress-ribbon e estaiadas) e túneis. A ideia foi aprovada e as primeiras consultas na internet realizadas durante o debate, apontando para a viabilidade técnica da obra, já estudada por outros pesquisadores no passado. On June 22, 2022, the e-DAU network held its first online international meeting realizou, attended by members of the team in five continents and coordinated by Prof. Quazi Ahman Zaman from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. This issue, discussed in English by participants from Australia, Bangladesh, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa and Norway, in addition to Brazil, focused on the theme "Border Urbanism" , through a brilliant presentation by Dr. Zaman which was followed by an ample discussion directed towards the possibility of a seminar to be held centered in São Paulo, as part of his ongoing research in this field. The President of e-DAU's Council, Bruno Roberto Padovano, suggested the organization and promotion of a large international project on the Bering Strait, between Alaska and Siberia, as part of the peace efforts to avoid the escalation of the war between Russia and Ukraine, with the proposal of an intercontinental multi use bridge, with the creation of an urbanization capable of absorbing up to 8 million inhabitants, which would make it the first planned megacity (possibly with the floating structure) in the world and would include state of the art solutions used on bridges (suspended, stress-ribbon and cable stayed) and tunnels. The idea was approved and the first searches carried out on the internet during the debate, pointing to the technical feasibility for the work, already studied by other researchers in the past.
